RADS 5 is a free anti-virus and anti-spyware service provided
by the Rutgers University Office of Information Technology to
all current students, faculty, and staff. RADS 5 is
compatbile with all Microsoft operating systems from Windows 98
through Windows Vista. It works with workstation and server
editions and runs on X86, AMD64, EM64T, and IA64 processors.
RADS 5 is based on Trend Micro's
OfficeScan 7.3 and 8.0 software.
What's new in RADS 5?
-
RADS 5 is the first managed antivirus solution offered to the
University that provides protection for users running the
Windows Vista line of operating systems.
-
The entire server infrastructure for RADS 5 has been rebuilt
and features advanced health monitoring and self-repair
capabilities. This will yield a more reliable antivirus
solution.
-
The new RADS server infrastructure is now centrally managed,
bringing the ability to generate reports and aggregate
statistics on the overall malware situation at the University.
Coming Soon to RADS 5
-
The OfficeScan server software has been extended to provide
new management capabilities to University departments without
requiring the installation of new OfficeScan servers.
Eventually, this will enable specific departments to securely
enforce realtime scan settings, enable scheduled scans, control
firewall policies, generate reports, and view client status for
clients on their specific networks.
